This sculptural object shows an enchanted foot wearing a smiley signet ring, placed on a pedestal. The artwork belongs to the world of Seraphita — a fictional E-guru and vlogger-witch who appears in my artistic practice. Through her, I explore new roles for jewellery and its ability to speak about wider social and cultural topics.

The silver ring was originally featured in a video piece from my 2021 solo exhibition. In the video, I played the role of a ‘witch-master’ and raised questions about authorship in the digital age. Who counts as a master today — a trained academic or an online vlogger-witch? Is a video guide made by an E-guru a legitimate form of knowledge?

Jewellery, an ancient art form tied to embodied (haptic) knowledge, now exists online as downloadable 3D files. A ring modelled in a program can be shared, printed, and worn by anyone. In this way, tactile knowledge spreads through screens, and the master becomes a hybrid of teacher, influencer, and digital magician.
